All Love is Equal – No on 8

kitsonE!’s own Giuliana Rancic hosted an event at Kitson last night called All Love is Equal.  The night was all about creating awareness and garnering support to reverse California’s prop 8.

Celebs showed their support including Missi Pyle, Shawnee Smith, Boo boo Stewart, Greg Michael and  Hal Sparks.

I was asked to take place in a mock wedding to demonstrate the opposition  gay marriage faces.  My friend Jennifer Goldberg and I happily participated to make a point.  I am all for equal rights.  It is 2009 and there is no reason we should oppress people based on anything let alone their sexual orientation.  I was raised Catholic, I am a practicing Christian and I find nothing wrong with a man loving a man or a woman loving a woman.  To me, Love is Love.  How can anyone be against that? I have many gay friends and they should be allowed every freedom that you and I have.  Who they date is their choice not mine.  No one is forcing me to marry a woman.  But everyone deserves the right to be happy in this life.  The moderator of the event said it best “Politicians take an oath on the bible to uphold the constitution, the don’t take and oath on the constitution to uphold the bible. ”  She also mentioned that 1500 species, ranging from primates to gut worms, exhibit homosexual behaviors.  How can we go against nature?  Whether you agree with me or not, I took a stand for what I believe in.  You are free to do the same!headboots

Hello Kitty celebrates 35 years of being adorable!

kittyIf you know anything about me, you know I LOVE Hello Kitty.  Growing up there was a Sanrio store at my local mall.  We went practically every weekend and played this bean bag type game.  You would win a grab bag that corresponded to the hole you got the ball in.  I loved collecting the pens and stationary sets. To this day, the grape gum they sell is my all time favorite.  MMM its sooo flavorful for all of two minutes, but those are two joyous minutes! I was very happy to learn that my amazing tattoo artist Mischa at Zulu tattoo in LA was do a few art pieces for an all Hello Kitty art exhibit.   She did 8 amazing paintings.  I wish I’d have scooped one up because last I heard she sold 7 of them!  I was invited to the opening night and had a ball sipping on Hello Kitty bubbly while exploring the Three Apples exhibit which featured all things HK.  Took me back to my days of doodling an afternoon away on my Kero Keroppi note pad while wearing my blinging Spottie Dottie necklace.  Pure blissful nostalgia.

Amy visits the Los Angeles Food Bank

Greetings friends!

amesTis the season for sharing! To me, that means giving back to my community.  If you are able to log on to a computer and read this blog, you are more fortunate than a substantial portion of the world.  It’s important not to take our privileged lifestyles for granted.  We don’t have to wait for the holidays to come around to get involved.  It just so happens American Women in Radio and Television organized a star studded charity event at the Los Angeles Food Bank.  I along with my close friend Emily Morris and Drew Seeley, went to lend a helping hand.  In just 4 hours, we put together 1088 bags of food for the elderly!  We had so much fun in the process.  foodIt feels incredibly rewarding to know that I spent a portion of my day doing something for someone who needs and will appreciate it more that I will even know.  I urge you to find something to get involved with.  Visit a nursing home, go to your local food back, bring used closthes to goodwill.  There are so many ways you can give back.  Find a way, make time, and do it!

Kudos to Just Jared Jr. for writing about the event.  Great to know kids are exposed to celebs who give back.carpet

Camp Kesem

I want to introduce you to fantastic charity for kids who have a parent with cancer.  It’s called Camp Kesem.  I had the pleasure of attending a golf tournament to raise money for the cause.  The camps happen all across the country and will accept any child who wants to attend regardless of financial ability.   It is a week long sleep away camp and it allows the kids to be kids.  If you’ve had a parent with cancer or have know anyone that is battling it, you understand how emotionally hard it is on both the patient and their family.  Camp Kesem lets the kids escape the heaviness and responsibilities of being caretakers.  If youd like to learn more, check out
